The gift and the Curse

                                                        The Gift and the Curse......

In 2016, The Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA Championship. 52 years of obscurity, disappointments, affliction and near misses were swept away in one record setting series.
The Cleveland sports landscape was basically forged out of the compilation of memorable games and moments that didn't go our way. The Drive, The Fumble, Jose Mesa blown save in the ninth inning of the 1997 World Series, The Browns leaving...(you get the point)
The victory in 2016, seemed to wash away all those ills, the lack, the jokes, Free at Last!, We slayed   the dragon! The Curse Is Dead!
Wait a second, there are instances of familiar misfortune that has resurfaced since June of 2016.
The Cleveland Indians of 2016 had a 3-1 lead over The Chicago Cubs and lost the series in 7 games. Our beloved Tribe blew a 2-0 lead against the Yankees in last year's MLB Playoffs.
Kyrie Irving the man who made the shot which a generation of Clevelanders will never forget, requests and is granted a trade. The people of the trade got traded, including a cancerous twerp who stunk up the joint with his play and crappy attitude who on paper was suppose to replace Irving.
The Browns have won 1 game in the last two NFL seasons. Stipe Miocic lost his MMA Heavyweight Championship belt. (Daniel Cormier is one of the greatest MMA fighters of all-time)
A play which rivaled A Dave Chapelle Show skit, Jr. Smith forgot the score in the 2018 NBA Finals and dribbled out the clock. This Bill Buckneresque play obliterating any chance The Cavs had of competing, let alone beating The Golden State Warriors in The Finals.
Shortly there after Cleveland loses the best player to ever play in the city, not named Jim Brown.
yes, Lebron James left for a second time.
Cleveland is a loyal and very knowledgeable sports fan base, with clumsy teams.
I mean, you can't make this stuff up! Cleveland sports is 40 year old virgin levels of unlucky.
Please be clear! The Championship residue has not fully worn off from 2016. The champagne memories that eternally live in my heart are starting to dry up. I can say that I am getting a craving for another Championship.
We have a team who is currently in first place.
A team who can match anyone's pitching staff in professional baseball
We have a future Hall of Fame Manager
A dynamic 3rd base and shortstop combination.
We have a team who will rally together. Yes, I believe that we will win!
This title we will celebrate with unmitigated arrogance!
This ship will be even more epic!
This one we can shove in the face of "The Draymond Greens" of the world. (shout out to Tristan "pretty boy" Thompson)
We can give a huge middle finger to the rest of the country that wishes to crack jokes, recall our past failures, or mock our Championship as, "only one."
This Championship, we can have the 2nd parade we should've had in 2016.
This Championship, will be won  by The Cleveland Indians as we take out The LA Dodgers in 6 games, in the 2018 World Series.
