Top 10 movies ever!
There was a love affair I once had with movies that I don't currently have.
Of course many of my first dates were @ the movies. Sometime in High School meeting a friend at the mall or going by myself. Something has been lost in the experience of going to the movies.
Is it the emergence of Netflix? Are the movies way too expensive? Perhaps they just don't make them like they use to.
Whatever the case my last movie going experience was "This is the end" (2013) before that it was why did I get married 2" (2010)
Long time famine when it comes to physically sitting in the theatre to watch a film.
Yet, I always watch the Oscars! I guess I'm catching up on what I missed throughout the year.
They say when you die, you will remember favorite songs, poems, people, moments right before you go.
I am very certain one's favorite movies will be on that list also. Movies place you in a time, place and space to which you remember what was happening in your life when that film came out.
In many ways like music it creates a time capsule for some of the events in your life.
A poet once said memories are the Christians of life, if that is the case poems, music, movies, etc..
would be the equivalent to the church for those memories.
I am going to list my top 10 favorite movies ever, pleases chime in with yours.
1. Malcolm X--- May be the best acting performance I've ever seen. Denzel Washington is amazing!
2. Good Fellas---- Fearless story telling, it's as if you know these characters by the end of the film.
3. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon--- Visually stunning, great fight scenes and a well told story.
4. The Matrix I--- Was blown away the 1st time I saw this film.
5. Crash---- Conversations on race need to take place more. This was brilliantly done.
6. Kung-fu Hustle--- Hilarious and wildly entertaining.
7. Raw (Eddie Murphy)--- Ahead of it's time
8. Paid in Full-- Rotten Apples be dammed, this was a very good movie, Shouts to Camron and Mekki Phifer.
9. Training Day--- There goes that man again! Denzel could easily have 4 Oscars if you think about it. (He was a great villain)
10. American Beauty--- Dysfunctional suburbia.
* HONORABLE MENTION
Menace 2 Society
Full Metal Jacket
Remember the Titans
The Hangover I
